Is it complicated to install?

The installer will load automatically once the cd is placed in your cdrom drive. From there you just follow the few simple on-screen instructions, enter your serial number when prompted, and reboot your computer when the installation is complete.

What are the requirements to install?

  • Windows 98 or later with at least 60 megabytes of free space.
  • Internet Explorer version 5 or later.

Why does nothing happen when I enter the serial number?


  • Make sure you enter the serial number with the dashes (ie 111-111-111).

Does the application require an Internet connection to run?


  • No, the application will be installed and run solely from your computer. An Internet connection is not required whatsoever.

Why does the browser want to connect to the Internet everytime I start Notary Tracker?


  • This means that you are probably using a dial-up connection and your browser is configured to do this.
  • In Internet Explorer, click Tools, then click Connections. Now, make sure that 'Never dial a connection' is selected.

Can I access the application from another computer?

Yes. By default, this feature is turned off but you can enable it the following way:

  • Open Windows Explorer
  • Find the microweb.ini file located in C:\Program Files\NotaryTrackerSA and open it with an editor, such a Notepad.
  • In the line where is says: ';allowRemoteAccess=1', remove the preceding semi-colon (this is a comment).
  • The line should now read: allowRemoteAccess=1 (no semi-colon before it).
  • Save the microweb.ini file and close the Notary Tracker application, if it was open.
  • Start the Notary Tracker application and note the port number after it (ie http://notarytracker:81).
  • Find out your ip address (ie 192.168.1.100).
  • To find out your ip address, click Start, Run, type cmd. On the DOS prompt window that appears, type ipconfig.
  • You may now access your application from another computer by opening a Microsoft Internet Explorer window and typing: http://your_ip_number_here:81
  • Note: Replace '81' with the port number that appeared on your main computer (81, 82, 83, etc).
  • Note: The Notary Tracker application will need to remain open for you to be able to access it from another computer.
